Medical identification for people living with diabetes in case of an emergency can be worn in the form of wristbands and necklaces.
At DRWF we encourage anyone with diabetes, especially those prone to experiencing hypoglycaemia, to wear or carry medical identification at all times.
DRWF has recently launched a new line of wristbands, designed to alert anyone providing emergency medical assistance to the condition of the individual.
This can help speed up diagnosis and treatment considerably and could even mean the difference between life and death.
Lee Calladine, DRWF Events Co-ordianator, said: “As a person living with type 1 diabetes I never go anywhere without wearing my diabetes alert wristband and necklace. Having experienced some severe hypos in the past that required help from another person and being taken to hospital in an unconscious state, my wristband and necklace were absolutely vital in letting the paramedics and A&E team know I had type 1 diabetes and how to treat me. I would urge anyone with diabetes, especially those on insulin or other glucose lowering tablets and medications to wear something that will let other people know you have diabetes, in case you need help one day. They are great for peace of mind, and you never know, they may help save your life.”
Our diabetes awareness wristbands are available in a range of different styles and colours and are available for adults and young people:
