DRWF Events: Family Camp in the Cloud online activities for young people living with diabetes
DRWF, in collaboration with children’s charity Over The Wall Camp, present a free to attend interactive, online family camp for young people living with type 1 diabetes.
Registration is open now for this year’s Family Camp in the Cloud event – a virtual activities event for young people and their families.
The Family Camp in the Cloud is our innovative, inclusive, and engaging virtual programme, where families can experience the magic of a residential, serious fun, camp from the comfort of their home.
DRWF collaborate with Over The Wall Camp to host the event as both organisations recognise that living with diabetes in the family can mean that sometimes spending time together can be difficult.
The free to attend Family Camp in the Cloud has been developed to provide families with an opportunity to enjoy quality time together whilst taking part in a fun programme of activities and challenges.
The activities and programmes change per calendar year, so the Family Camp in the Cloud can be enjoyed by returning families every year!
This one-day online event is for the whole family of a child or young person aged 0-17 with diabetes. Why not enjoy a day at home with the whole family getting involved in a seriously fun programme of activities.

Lee Calladine, DRWF Events Co-ordinator, said: “As part of the exciting programme for the day and Seriously Fun Boxes, DRWF have included our 'Type 1 Superhero and Unicorn' T-shirts so all of our young guests can get into the team spirit.
“We have also included sets of our 'Diabetes Fun Facts' flash cards which are packed with all sorts of mind blowing 'did you know?' facts about the history of type 1 diabetes, going back to the ancient Egyptians tasting wee for sugar right up to Banting and Best discovering inuslin and up to present day futuristic technology.
“Our Type 1 team members and their siblings will get their creative juices flowing in a fun art workshop where they will get to create their very own diabetes cells, creatures and characters which we will share in future DRWF features.
“We will also be joined by a Paediatric Diabetes Specialist Nurse who will answer questions about Type 1 Diabetes in our special questions and answers hour.”
Campers are given exclusive access to our bespoke Camp in the Cloud platform, where they can engage with a mixture of online and real-life activities. There are opportunities for campers and families to interact in real-time with others who are attending the same Camp in the Cloud, through secure message boards and fun video calls.
Young people attending the camp will be sent a ‘Seriously Fun Box’ in the post, containing all the resources they need to participate.
Comment from a parent after a recent camp event: “It was so normalising for our children to be in a ‘room’ with lots of other children going through the same things. To meet other families who are living the same life as us and having fun with them was really powerful.”
The event follows the residential Type 1 Family Camp held earlier this year.
