A statement from Diabetes Africa said: “With a focus on closing the inequity gap, we continue to build on from last year’s event where we explored how we can close the gap in diabetes inequalities in Black populations within the UK.

“This unique gathering of health and care professionals, policymakers, researchers, and community leaders aims to share knowledge and insights to bridge gaps and promote health equity in diabetes care for Black populations.”

Presentations at the event will focus on activities happening around the UK, with discussion on how to upskill, and work together to improve equity in access to healthcare and diabetes technology.

Among speakers at the event include Dr Clare Hambling, National Clinical Director for Diabetes and Obesity on NHS England Horizons of Diabetes in the NHS; and Professor Partha Kar, Type 1 Diabetes and Technology Lead for NHS England on Equity vs Equality – application in diabetes for UK Black populations.
