Abbott host Diabetes & Identity online event.

A free online event aims to bring people living with diabetes together to discuss how diagnosis can affect self-identity.

Diabetes & Identity will be hosted by Abbott on Monday, 8th July from 7.30pm to 8.30pm.

The panel of speakers includes Jasmine Jaffar, who lives with type 1 diabetes, Mark Tiller, who lives with type 2 diabetes and Lorraine Avery, Diabetes Specialist Nurse. They will share their real-life experiences of how diabetes has impacted their/other’s identity.

The event will be presented by Dave Benson Phillips, one of the UK’s best-known and most experienced TV presenters, known from the Children’s BBC game show Get Your Own Back and appearances on Celebrity MasterChef and The Last Leg.

Dave had an initial shock when he was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at the age of 55, and for a brief period of time he felt as though he needed to keep his diagnosis a secret.

The event is also set to feature a special performance from spoken word poet and hip-hop artist Duke Al.
