Study recruitment: Eating habits of South Asians being offered artificial pancreas
Researchers looking for people who are willing to share their eating expectations if prescribed with the hybrid closed loop system (artificial pancreas) for type 1 diabetes.
Researchers from University of London are looking for South Asians living with type 1 diabetes to participate in interviews about their eating habits.
Study author Altamash Shaikh from City, University of London, said: “We are looking for people who are willing to share their eating expectations if prescribed with the hybrid closed loop system.
“We specifically want to explore how you think this new treatment would affect your eating habits or food choices if you were to be prescribed with it in the future. This study is part of a master’s dissertation project.”
Researchers are looking for people from South Asian backgrounds (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Maldives) with type 1 diabetes who are 18 years or older.
Participants do not need to have used or know about the hybrid closed loop to take part.

NOTE: DRWF will from time-to-time advise readers of ‘calls to participate’ in diabetes and related health research studies. It should not necessarily be considered that the charity is in any way connected to the study or the group issuing the call for participants. If we are involved in any way, we will make this known. We will only share external calls where we have confirmed that the study holds ethics committee approval, and the study is specific to diabetes and related health. Taking part in a medical research study is a big step and further helpful information can be found via the National Institute for Health and Care Research Clinical Trials Guide.
