People with type 2 diabetes wanted to participate in a virtual online workshop.

The views of people living with type 2 diabetes are sought as part of a workshop that could input in the development of an innovative digital application aimed at improving the treatment and management of the condition.

Health Innovation East (HIE) is working with Tesu Health to recruit people living with type 2 diabetes for a Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) workshop.

The virtual online workshop aims to understand, discuss and agree parameters and features that are important to people living with type 2 diabetes to inform and guide the development/tailoring of this innovative application to better suit people living with the condition and their carers in meeting health management needs.

For the study 5-10 people with lived experience of type 2 diabetes are wanted to join a working group on Monday 11th November or Wednesday 13th November with lots of breaks. Participants will be paid for their time in line with PPI NHS payment policies.

Lamprini Kaftantzi, PhD, Senior Advisor (Commercial) at Health Innovation East, said: “To ensure that the voices of all individuals with type 2 diabetes are represented, we are particularly keen to engage with people from diverse backgrounds, including those from minority ethnic communities, older adults, and individuals from underserved populations. These groups often experience unique challenges when managing diabetes, and their perspectives are crucial in shaping more inclusive and effective healthcare interventions.

“As a leading organisation in the diabetes community, your work has a direct impact on the lives of those affected by the condition, and we would greatly appreciate your support in helping us connect with participants for this workshop.”

NOTE: DRWF will from time-to-time advise readers of ‘calls to participate’ in diabetes and related health research studies. It should not necessarily be considered that the charity is in any way connected to the study or the group issuing the call for participants. If we are involved in any way, we will make this known. We will only share external calls where we have confirmed that the study holds ethics committee approval, and the study is specific to diabetes and related health. Taking part in a medical research study is a big step and further helpful information can be found via the National Institute for Health and Care Research Clinical Trials Guide.
