Study recruitment: Mental health and type 1 diabetes
Student questionnaire seeking people with type 1 diabetes to discuss mental health and how the condition affects their wellbeing.
Volunteers are wanted to complete a questionnaire on the effects of mental illness and living with type 1 diabetes.
The research study on Effects of type 1 diabetes and age of diagnosis on adult mental health is part of an undergraduate psychology dissertation project.
The purpose of the study is to investigate if a diagnosis of type 1 diabetes could have an effect on a person’s adult mental health, in comparison to people who do not have a type 1 diabetes diagnosis.
The study will also be investigating whether the age at which a person is diagnosed with type 1 diabetes can act as a predictor of their adult mental health.
By doing this study, researchers hope to have a better understanding of when intervention may be best needed to support the mental health of those diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
The study is being conducted by Grace Ford, a fourth-year psychology student at the University of Glasgow.
Volunteers should be aged 18 or older and living with type 1 diabetes, or if you fit the criteria for the control group as someone who does not have type 1 diabetes.
The results of the study will be used to assess if there is a relationship between type 1 diabetes and adult mental health, and if the age of diagnosis for type 1 diabetes is a predictor of adult mental health.
The anonymised results will be written up into a report to be used within a psychology undergraduate dissertation and may be made publicly available.
