Personalised health and wellbeing service offers positive lifestyle changes that can keep type 2 diabetes in check.

A recent study found that less than half (45%) of British people are confident that they would be classed as healthy by a doctor or a wellness expert.

The research was conducted by Uniquely Health who believe that a focus on healthy lifestyle changes help to reduce the risk of complications related to type 2 diabetes.

It is estimated that 40% of NHS funds go towards treating preventable health conditions, including type 2 diabetes.

The Uniquely Health study found that the challenges of modern life are among the main reasons people struggle to look after their health.

These include having sedentary lifestyles, working longer hours, family pressures and what food options are available.

A statement from Uniquely Health said: “Despite the challenges of modern life, you can make changes that will add years to your life.

“Uniquely Health is here to help – offering a personalised health and wellbeing service focusing on positive actions you can take to improve your lifestyle and keep type 2 diabetes in check.”

Uniquely Health provides a one-to-one service that pairs people living with type 2 diabetes with experts including exercise scientists, dietitians and GP's for a complete toolkit to drive change.

The team provides you with accountability which they believe can help to change existing habits and develop healthy new ones that will last a lifetime.

Areas discussed on lifestyle and type 2 diabetes

  • Smart Eating: Macro-pairing, meal timing and food order can all help reduce blood glucose spikes.
  • Exercise: Helps you to remove sugar from your bloodstream. A combination of cardio and strength training is crucial for blood glucose management.
  • Muscle Mass: Acts as a 'sink' for glucose - strength training builds healthy muscles to lower blood glucose.
  • Lifestyle Factors: Sleep, stress, and movement can all impact your blood glucose levels.

Uniquely Health has empowered patients to achieve significant weight loss, enhance their cardiovascular health and effectively manage their blood glucose levels.
