In this edition of Living With Diabetes, DRWF’s Claire Levy is talking to two doctors who deal with the transition from paediatric to adult care for young people living with diabetes, and what that means for them, their parents and carers. Renuka Dias is from Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Meera Ladwa is clinical lead for the young adult diabetes service at Newham Hospital in London.

Claire Levy talks to illustrator Lucy Claire Dunbar, who lives with Type 1 diabetes. Her first book will be launched on World Diabetes Day, 14 November 2024. The Book of Gifts is richly illustrated and aims to celebrate the kindness of strangers and commemorates loss, to reflections on the passing of time, and the beginning of new opportunities as the years turn. It combines beautiful, hand-drawn artwork with Lucy’s words, which she hopes will speak to the heart.
